  1. 1 cup regular basmati rice
  2. 1 cup brown rice
  3. 1 cup urad dal
  4. 1/2 cup curd
  5. 1/2 cup poha (flattenened rice)
  6. ginger chilli paste (optional)
  7. pinch baking soda or eno fruit salt
  8. to taste salt
  9. pinch sugar
  10. 2 tsp oil
  11. 1 tsp red chilli powder

Instructions to make to make Brown Rice Dhokla

  1. Wash and soak rice and urad dal seperately for 5-6 hours
    grind them seperately. Add little curd while grinding and little water
    Add a tsp of salt and mix everything nicely
  2. Let the batter ferment for 5-6 hours (fermentation time may vary based on the weather / temprature).
    This batter doesnt need much fermentation.
  3. Once the batter is fermented add sugar, very little salt, baking soda or eno fruit salt, add ginger chilli paste -optional, add little oil and mix everything.
    Heat a wok with water.
  4. Grease a plate with oil and pour some batter adding pinch of red chilli powder spreading it all over the plate
    Steam the dhoklas for 7-10 minutes.
    Serve it with mint coriander chuntey, ketchups or with oil and achar masala.
    Yum !
